The Laboratory for Advanced Production Technologies in the Faculty 0f Mechanical Engineering is a fundamental underpinning for teaching, research and development for modern production fields. The laboratory merges theoretical knowledge with practical applications and allows students and researchers to grasp processes of content, prototypes and production at a high level.
The laboratory comprises an essential element in the training of future engineers and emphasizes content for production; systemic, technological thought processes and practical knowledge of the limitations and production methods in the real world.
The laboratory contains an advanced workshop, and it provides services for research laboratories, final projects, courses in advanced studies and multifaceted faculty activities.
Main Areas of Activity
Chip Processing and Precision Production
The laboratory deals with advanced chip processing including engraving and etching for the production of precision parts from various materials. This activity enables production of complex components, individual, coordinated fitting for research and production needs and supporting engineering projects in various stages of planning.
Welding and Joining Materials
In the laboratory welding is performed on common metallic materials as part of the production and assembly process of systems, installations and prototypes. This field supports research projects and the establishment of experimental systems.
Three- dimensional Printings and Supplementing Materials
The laboratory utilizes production technologies supplemented by material which enables the addition of complex geometrical parts directly from content files. This field is used for prototypes, testing functionality, quick solutions for experiments and for inclusion in teaching and research.
In addition, there is a possibility of independent printing in the framework of Fab Lab which enables high access and flexibility for students and lecturers.
Additional Production Processes
The laboratory also supports drilling, joining, plumbing and complementary production processes as part of a comprehensive envelope of engineering production solutions.
Work Procedures and Requisitions
The work in the Laboratory for Advanced Production Technologies progresses in accordance with accepted work procedures, which aim to assure the quality of production, the safety and the proper prioritizing of work. Work production requires opening a computerized work request and submitting a production file which includes engineering contents and applicable sketches. The order in which the work is executed is determined by professional demands and in accordance with the nature of the request, the teaching and research requirements and urgency, while maintaining an efficient and transparent work routine.
