Center for Research Facilities
The Center of Research Facilities (CRF) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering provides the Technion’s faculty and researchers with research infrastructures using advanced technologies. The center was established in cooperation with the Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in China – a joint polytechnic university of Shantou University and the Technion.
The center’s facilities are equipped with the following devices:
- FAST-M1k infrared camera for high-speed, high-rate, high-resolution thermal imaging for analyzing dynamic events.
- Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system for data collection and processing comprising:
- LD30-527 laser device with output energies availability of up to 30 mJ at 527 nm and at 1 kHz.
- High-speed camera – ideal for scientific HD image techniques.
- Nanoscribe 3D printer – a high-resolution 3D printer for ultra-precise microfabrication.
- Instron E10K advanced material testing system.
- DaVis 10 laser imaging software that combines high-performance cameras with advanced image-processing algorithms.
The center’s facilities can be used at an hourly fee, which is determined according to the device being used, raw materials, the need for the presence of an engineer, and the number of hours required.
