Leumi Robotics Center
Head: Prof. Moshe Shoham
The Leumi Robotics Center at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2009 thanks to a significant donation from Bank Leumi.
Objectives of the center:
- To serve as an umbrella organization for education and training in robotics for all those engaged in robotics in Israel.
- To encourage and motivate young people to study technology and science.
- To educate about robotics through competitions.
- To provide a platform for collaboration among university students and school students, which will contribute significantly to encouraging the younger generations to specialize in robotics during their academic studies.
One of the center’s goals is to encourage Israeli groups to participate in Israeli and international robotics competitions, which provide students with practical experience in solving advanced technological problems through applied research. Thousands of students across the country participate every year in robotics competitions, including the most prestigious in the world.
The flagship project of the Leumi Robotics Center is the Nadav Shoham Robotraffic competition, which has been held since 2010 with the participation of school students from Israel and around the world. In the competition, teams are required to tackle various driving and transportation challenges using small vehicle-like robots.
